i don't know if anyone else cares or not

IMG_6450.JPG
but, MOST DEFINITELY, the man i've circled in red, is NOT capt. fredrick wentworth, as is implied.... it is MOST CERTAINLY col. brandon, of delaford. i don't know who's leg the bbc think they're pulling, but IT'S. NOT. MINE.

i wish there was more, but there just isn't, and that's all i can say about it

IMG_6434a.jpg
i spent the majority of the weekend fabricating the above, but i can't really say anything more specific until after this coming saturday. you know how birthdays are and all... however, this was one of the only pictures i have from the weekend, being that i was all consumed in completing the project over two days, so there you are.... while fabricating, i consumed copious amounts of INSPECTOR LYNLEY, and MR.BEAN this weekend.... you know, i'd never seen mr. bean before. i guess i thought he was supposed to be some kinda aimiable mr.magoo-type, which i admit thinking was quite a shift from THE BLACK ADDER. now that i've seen it, i'm here to tell you that mr. bean is a passive-aggressive little prick. some of the schtick was funny, but mostly i was caught up in what-a-beastly-little-prick-you-are-mr.-bean thoughts, which tells me i won't prolly watch any more mr. bean....you know, for the same reason, essentially, that i can't bring myself to watch CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. i will say this; watching stewie's interpretation of the "i've got confidence in me" scene from SOUND OF MUSIC had me renting the julie andrews version again....

the weekend in review

IMG_6404.JPG
this weekend i put in some serious time on a new sweater: RAMBLING ROSE CARDIGAN by laura zukaite. accordingly, i hit up the library for a selection of dvd's to watch while knitting. i wound up with two bbc selections, both of which brought forth unexpected suprises.

the first selection was an old favorite; MONARCH OF THE GLEN (series 2). during the episode that introduces fergel to the storyline (specifically during the interview for the position as the estate's new head ranger), i looked up and couldn't believe what i saw!!!!

IMG_6405a.jpg

i had to look again to see if i really saw what i thought i saw! the third viewing confirmed it!!!!
IMG_6405b.jpg

one of the border terriers on the show lifts it's leg and douses a piece of furniture in the middle of the shot!!! if you look closely at the above shot, you can see the very top of the dog's head to the left of the serving tray/stand, and the dog's legs (3 of them) beneath the tray..... NO ONE IN THE SCENE REACTED AT ALL, in fact, i doubt if any of them even noticed at the time (surely the smell was noticed later...)
the second selection was new to me. i only chose it because i wanted a "mystery" and there weren't many on the library shelves when i was there. it's called LOVEJOY.
IMG_6418.JPG

it's essentially a brittish version of ROCKFORD FILES, except that it's an 80's show not a 70's show, and the main character is an antiques "dealer"/divy, not a private investigator. there's all the great shenanigans, foiled plans, outrageious behavior and great support characters like the upper-crust-but-super-sport, lady jane, the intoxicated barker, tinker, arch-nemesis-yet-brothers-in-antiques charlie, and rocker side-kick-with-a-side-car, eric. i've signed up for the remaining 5 seasons on netflix, and put them at the top of the queue. if you like quirky characters, who win in the end, though not necessarily through their original mislaid plans, you might wanna check this show out. turns out ian mcshane (the lovejoy character) was in deadwood, and will be appearing in the new abc show KINGS. a most pleasant suprise!!!

i like the early morning light

IMG_6406.JPG
we were at the park around 7:30 this morning. i really wanted to be there when there were minimal dogs around. both rocket and tessy are much more focused on hunting than playing with other dogs when we're at the park, so it's not like it was such a hardship for them....not like for lenny or romeo, who like playing with other dogs....
IMG_6407.JPG
i haven't walked at this hour in a couple of years. i'd completely forgotten how serene it can be early-early, with all that super white morning light... i was also pretty stoked that, what would assuredly be slush later on in the day, was still quite frozen, making for easy walking... we had a FABULOUS walk, and were outta there as the throngs were starting to arrive...

good thing i've got such strong knitting tendencies!

IMG_6403.JPG
our house thermostat is set for about 63-ish degrees, but it sometimes feels much cooler. i compensate by knitting items to keep me warm. today poor rocket was shivering around the house, so i had him wear tessy's irish sweater. although the fit was a bit wonky, he did seem much happier!

let's DO this!

IMG_6395.JPG
depending on which local station you were watching, yesterday was either the largest or second largest storm of the winter. all told we got the amount of snow that you see on the top of my car; about 7 inches...
IMG_6396.JPG
sage had the day off from work, so she joined me on the day's trek. walking in the powdery snow felt like walking on the loose sand at the beach (not the hard packed stuff near the shore-line...).

spring snow

IMG_6391.JPG
ok, so it's not exactly spring, but that's how i'm thinking of today's event...

i'm calling it an "event" because it was severe enough to cancel today's walk....
