second scottie spotting in two days

IMG_3125.JPG
this dog apparently has developed some kinda crush on barney, one of g.w.'s scotties. let me admit publicly that i have actually gone on the white house home page to watch the mini-movies they made with barney and miss beazley. never, never, NEVER in a gazillion years would i have imagined that i would have anything in common with george w.!!!! but yes, we both own female brindle scottish terriers.

IMG_3115.JPG
the tessinator really likes the snow! this is really fortunate....

backyard obsession

despite the fact that i had a lovely tree outside my window on fell street, a whole yard to the house on gayhead street, beautiful trees outside the back windows on linden street, and a wee yard when i lived on gardner street, i am totally obsessed with my backyard right now.

IMG_3107.JPG

IMG_3111.JPG
in particular i'm liking the abutting mini-woods juxtaposed against the sky, but i love the yard itself. hell, i even love the sketchy deck! (look! it's actually snowing!!!)
IMG_3108.JPG
IMG_3109.JPG
also, i have still not taken down my christmas tree.....i keep watering it, so it's not all dried out yet or anything...

aunt caroline

IMG_3102.JPG
i took a brief trip down to nyc to hang with my aunt caroline
IMG_3103.JPG
in addition to helping clean out the side hall, i cleaned cat boogers off the wall...yup, that's those marks on the wall:serious cat boogers
IMG_3104.JPG
it was a suprisingly tiring task, cleaning all that off the wall....PHEW!!! tessy said she approved of the end result.

and on....

IMG_3094.JPG
today i tackled my bedroom. i still have to do the bills part of it, but i need to get a hold of a shredder before i can process all that. regardless, i'm both happy and unsettled about the whole thing.

i'm unsettled by how the room is organized. i've realized that i've got all the "work space" intermingled with the "sleep space", and somehow that's bothering me now.

IMG_3095.JPG

i prolly never noticed before because there was so much crap piled up. now i realize that i've gotta move my desk from next to my bed to where the bureau is, and the bureau to where the desk is.
IMG_3097.JPG

i think i might also wanna put in some kinda low room divider that provides more storage, and prolly reorient the bed (in order to still be able to watch movies at night).
IMG_3098.JPG

i couldn't handle all of that on top of the cleaning i'd done, so that'll have to wait until i've finished my first project (going through the rest of the rooms). i also wanna put some thought into it, so i only have to move stuff once.

what winter?

IMG_3086.JPG
is that door on the sun porch open because it's 62 degrees out?
IMG_3087.JPG
WHY YES IT IS!!! initially i was scared of the global warming factor, but i wanted to enjoy the day anyway. it was nice to be able to completely air out the house. it's actually warmer here today than it is in san francisco.

the resolve goes on....

IMG_3088.JPG
one of things i like to do in january is to start going through all my stuff, and get rid of things. i get rid of old medications, old condiments, clothes i haven't worn in a while, old papers/bills, stuff like that. this year i decided i'd start with the rooms i use most, since that seemed to tie in with my resolution to take better care of myself. i started with my bathroom, since that room is so intertwined with personal health care.

some might say, but dude, you just moved your stuff in. didn't you take care of all that stuff then? to them i'd respond; i did in the kitchen, but most everywhere else, no. basically i pushed everything to the side to squeeze my stuff in. now comes the day of reckoning; i will sort through ALL the stuff.

IMG_3090.JPG

i admit, i may have also started with the bathroom (over my bedroom, let's say) because it's so small. i know it's gotten some momentum behind the whole thing, since it came out so good!
IMG_3091.JPG

part of what felt so good was going through the closet which holds towels, soap, shampoo, and various cold and first aid medications, and dumping all the expired stuff. a lot of stuff in there was super old, but i didn't want to get rid of it because my mom had bought it. i'm not feeling like i need to hang on like that anymore, which is a double score, as far as i'm concerned. it's a great start to the new year!

walkin' that walk

IMG_3074.JPG
walking tessy is now a part of my daily life. it's actually a great part of my life, because i love walking around and peeping stuff. i did way more walking in san francisco than i did when i first moved home. there were more people to visit there, and i had to deal with getting to and from work, not to mention there's quite a bit to peep with san francisco being the size it is. i tried to make sure i went out regularly when i first moved back, but there were always things popping up that made the walk look more insignificant than it really is (and if you don't believe me that the walk is significant, just ask dr. michael roisin, or dr. mehmet oz).

HOWEVER with tessy around, the walk has become mandatory; an unalienable right. no one questions a person when they say they gotta walk their dog. it's a glorious thing to be on the walk, especially on a day like today(not so much in the pouring rain, but still not bad then if properly dressed). lemme letcha in on an hour in northampton's dog park/frisbee golf course/cross-country track.

IMG_3075.JPG

ben LOVES him some mud puddles, yes he does.

IMG_3078.JPG

if you look closely, you'll see tessy (circled in red) isn't even touching the ground. i'm telling you, that dog just loves to run!

IMG_3080.JPG

the sky was so wonderfully ethereal today. whenever i see beautiful clouds i think of adam cimino.

IMG_3081.JPG

i wish you coulda seen'em in person....(adam or the clouds, your choice)

IMG_3082.JPG

for the past month or so, connie's been joining us for the walk. it's been great to have her company, and she (and ben) will be sorely missed when the family goes back to block island (even though it means that steve has gotten that much better).

IMG_3083.JPG

tess often leads the pack. i wish i could post a video of her struttin' her stuff.

IMG_3084.JPG

even when the sun isn't out the way it was today, the dog park/frisbee golf course/cross-country track is always chock full of beautiful vista!

IMG_3085.JPG

no wonder ben puts up so much resistance about leaving...

welcome 2007!

IMG_3069.JPG
after a joyous dinner over at the finn's house, i rang in the new year with tessy, in my new scottie pj's, with a good glass of champagne, watching the spectacle that is dick clarke's rockin' new year's eve. as will happen at this time of year, i thought about my goal's for the upcoming year.

i've decided to keep them ultra-realistic to be able to actually follow through, and experience a sensation of satisfaction about the whole sitch. one of the four resolutions has to do with this blog. i can't tell you how many picts i've taken over the past two months, of some cool stuff i've done, fun people i've visited with, pretty pictures of the pioneer valley in the autumn/winter months, and general picts of tessy, all with little blurbs i've wanted to attach for context. i've realized "the overall problem" is that, nine months into my life in northampton, i have not been able to establish a set time to blog. this morning is my first morning with new morning habit: drinking coffee up in my room working on the blog instead of knitting on the porch. so far, so good....
and did i mention how much i'm loving my new scottie pajamas?!?!?!?!?!!!!! (one of my favorite christmas gifts for sure!)
