western massachusetts sky

i love this view. this is on cemetary road in hadley, aka the back road to the mall/umass. i've seen this particular slice of view since i was in elementary school. i find it particularly attractive, because i'm a big fan of fields-surrounded-by-woods. i don't know if this type of planning has any particular effect on the crops grown there, but i love the aesthetic. there also used to be a barn in this slice of view, but it fell down a few years ago.... in hadley, prolly because of all the historic buildings, you need to get a permit to tear a structure down. it would seem that most barn-owners prefer to just let their's rot to the ground. the barn i'm talking about i started watching in elementary school (let's say about 4th grade; 1977), went inside of it in high school (1985), and saw it's delapidation turn to deterioration to it's ultimate ruination (sometime during my first year in san francisco[1998]), during the span of twenty years. somehow, although it would seem to be counter-intuitive, i think it enhances the beauty of this slice of view for me, to have had this kind of experience with that immediate area.
