sometime i find myself wondering, "is this a sign? from the universe?"

tonight i came home to

IMG_1613.JPG

my neighbors have a bubble machine, but they haven't used it in a long time. it was a nice thing to come home to for sure!

what i didn't quite understand was that tonight i would see THE EPISODE

IMG_1620.JPG

the MARSHA! MARSHA! MARSHA! episode!!!! of course, now that i see it post brady movie, it seems so flat, somehow, without ru paul.

this kinda struck my funny bone

IMG_1610.JPG
the same way "out to lunch" strikes my funny bone. of course, the fact that these supposed "dirty shirts" are shrink-wrapped is kinda confusing to me...is that for stench retention?

the only other thing i really have to share today, other than the fact that i still haven't made an appt. to see my doctor about this sinus thing, is the slow but steady pace i'm making on the go with the flow sox from the summer 2005 IK.

IMG_1612.JPG

please note the implementation of the dental floss life line, even if i am only on row 22....

and on and on it goes

now, if you know me, you know that i couldn't just simply come down with the flu...

IMG_1606.JPG

without some wonderful addition like a fever blister

IMG_1603.JPG

and, judging from the increasing pain in my right cheek, a sinus infection...

my sad state of health meant i watched far too much television over the past few days
i saw a review of vik's chaat house in berkeley, which i was happy that one of the three folks dissed(after some initial anger) cuz that line doesn't need to be any longer than it is-aka-MORE FOR ME!
IMG_1598.JPG

i faded in and out of THE GREAT ESCAPE and the documentary afterward of some of the "real life" soldiers in the camp, and the anthropologists who were trying to find the tunnel they dug
IMG_1600.JPG

and, of course,

george

i haven't been doing that much knitting, cuz it's been really difficult to focus on things with my head all stuffed up...i did manage to get a little bit more work done on the fairly easy fair isle
IMG_1605.JPG

it's really time consuming cuz you either go at it, letting the yarn tangle while you knit and detangle afterwards(or as "necessary"), or you keep stopping to untangle as you go, so color changes are quicker...either way it was quite a challenge, and hopefully one that was worth the effort.

i'm wicked tired, and going to bed now. i wanna be sound asleep by 8PM so i can get around 9 hours of sleep; G"NITE!

it's back

yup.

IMG_1596.JPG

i'm sick again; raging sore throat, chest cough(which hurts sooooooo much when i try to cough up what i feel like i'm drowning in), and low grade fever....that feeling where you're simultaneously exhausted and ancy... my fever is much more serious than last time, so maybe i'll move through it sooner than 3 weeks...

little buggeroo

one of the cruel jokes i've noticed about being an "adult": now that i can afford to buy whatever cool toys seem to be screaming my name, i can't fit into all of them...an i'd really like to fit into this one:

IMG_1587.JPG

man-o-man, i always loved the mini-my-size riding toys!!! when i was little i had a little purple car with white trim that was made out of some kind of metal. there's a picture at my parent's house of me in a wicked early 70's paisley print dress with white sandals and i'm riding on the sidewalk. my brother also had a metal riding toy, but his was a mini-airplane. it was a steel grey color with blue and red trim(if i remember correctly). you know, my brother also had a red plastic motorcycle...that was one you didn't have to get inside of, so i liked riding around on it, even though i was like 7 by the time he had it...

speaking of toys, there's a new addition to potterland.

IMG_1589.JPG

no, no, no, not dumbledeedore's office; IT'S FAWKES!
IMG_1590.JPG

although this IS supposed to come with the chamber of secrets set, i bought it seperately. actually, i have about 5 or 6 more sets to get, and then it's gonna be all about spare parts! a totally exciting thought for me....

another exciting thought is that i've finally gotten back to knitting sox on the BART. i started these yesterday
IMG_1594.JPG

i don't know that i'll be able to whip up a pair by monday though. not only cuz i just started yesterday, and my home knitting is the fairly easy fair isle along with a couple other presents i still have to make for some friends, but also cuz these are the first "full length" pair of sox i've attempted for myself. they're also lace. which reminds me that i need to bring some dental floss with me on the train tomorrow. when i went to hear the yarn harlot speak a few months ago, i wound up meeting a couple of women, one of whom is really into knitting lace. she told me that i should thread some dental floss accross the row, every few rows, as a "life line". (when you're knitting lace, there is no ripping back; there is only starting over...and many tears.)

i think i'm getting sick. my throat is BEYOND sore, and i have a low grade fever...what is with this?!?!!? it's not like i'm burning the candle at both ends...i've been eating really well(both healthy and homemade), getting lots of sleep(at least 8 hours a night), and actually getting some exercise(i've started a new program)...maybe it's cuz i ran out of my airborne last week, and didn't replace it....hmmmm thankfully tomorrow's friday....

apparently the marriage between function and design still lives

this is the most beautiful anti-skateboarding device i've ever seen

IMG_1585.JPG

although i'm not necessarily endorsing anti-skateboarding devices, i do have to say what a little thrill i get when i see concrete use of function and design (pun intended)
IMG_1586.JPG

i'm wicked tired again tonight. after a lovely bowl of soup, i'm going to fall asleep to this show that's attempting to go to the geographical locations of the bible...in order...at first i thought it would definately put me to sleep, but the narrator/host is quite interesting.....

can you believe this weather?!?!?

this tree was outside the bill graham auditorium.

IMG_1584.JPG

then there was that mudslide on telegraph...dude, i thought the city was supposed to be devoid of these natural shananagans. apparently not.

i'm quite tired from work and going to bed now. hopefully there'll be something more substantial tomorrow...maybe i will have collected lots of knowledge about egyptian mummies as i fall asleep to nova...

holidays go by SO QUICK!

i can't even friggin' believe that my christmas holiday is over, and i have to go back to work tomorrow. i'm having some anxiety thinking about it. i'd hoped to be out and about, visiting, checking out the sights san francisco has to offer. however, i just didn't want to go out in the rain if i didn't have to....plus i've noticed as of the past few months(basically since i've returned from the eastside, but some before that too) that i don't like to leave my apartment that much. after some thought i've come to realize this is also about work; most of the time i leave my home it's to go to work, so not leaving home inherently means not going to work. please bare with me, my friends. it is not without reason my behavior had had a drastic change in the past year. so i hope you don't mind if that's all i say about that, other than it's time for some serious resolution.

IMG_1562.JPG

there was much consumed along the lines of good food. one of the more pleasant suprises was finding out that a mustardy vinegrette makes a damn fine sauce for poached eggs; who knew?!?!

another thing i worked on while i was at home was calming the chaos of my living space...

IMG_1563.JPG

IMG_1564.JPG

IMG_1570.JPG

there was a bit more involved than i'd originally thought, but you know how that goes....oh i'd better just do this now while it's out, oh, i better deal with this before i forget, oh, you know i should really do it this way since it's all torn apart anyway....
IMG_1567.JPG

IMG_1575.JPG

i am pleased with the results, and think it was all worth the effort.

IMG_1566.JPG

i'm sure you're over it, but i'm not...LOOK! i got nifty buttons for my striped sweater!
IMG_1568.JPG

i got the first part of the body done on that FAIRLY EASY FAIR ISLE sweater from stitch-n-bitch nation over the weekend.
IMG_1574.JPG

what the bleep do we know?/how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?
dude, this movie is outta control. i watched it over the weekend and yesterday too, and i know there's still more i can extrapolate from it... please do yourself the favor of watching it, even if it doesn't seem to make much "sense" from the outset.

today, as the most precious last day of my holiday, i finished working on the first arm of the new sweater
IMG_1581.JPG

it was a bit jumbled, but nothing too bad. however, it did open my eyes as to what i'm in for when i finally get up to the yoke. this is not your brainless knitting folks! it's also not the most fluid, as you're constantly stringing some other yarn along the back.
i started back into LOTR with fellowship; there's something about this woman's corderoy dirndle that i'm wicked feeling
IMG_1576.JPG

i also did a bit of cooking. since there's one bowl of soup left, i made another entree. the hope being that i'll be eating healthier dinners and lunches if there's more food ready in advance. this is another winning number from the favoritest of cookbooks! it's the zucchini, tomato & swiss pie- YUM FRIGGIN YUM!!!
IMG_1582.JPG

since i'm talking about cooking, let me just mention how stoked i am on the tomato shark my aunt sent me. it's not necessarily my favorite present, but most definately the one i will use the most...well that and the scraper, even if i was more excited about the microplaner
IMG_1578.JPG

i can't claim health in the case of the peppermint chocolate chip cookies, but i made them anyway!!!
IMG_1577.JPG

that'll be a sweet treat tomorrow night, when i'll surely need it most!
