weekend is really just another way to say "SATURDAY" isn't it?
i mean, friday night i'm not good for much, even if i can sleep in because i've been up since at least 5AM. sundays, well, sundays i might feel rested, but i know i gotta get up the next morning at 5AM so i can't really go balls-out. actually, this is debatable; for a while now i've been having mostly anxious sleep on sunday night, so i'm not really getting a full night's rest anyway(i accidentally got up at 2:15 this morning; i forgot to re-set my alarm from the nap i took saturday afternoon; alotta friggin' good going to bed at 9:30 did me). my point being that the real weekend happens on saturday; i've slept in(well, 6:30AM IS sleeping in from 5!) so i can actually stay awake until midnight, plus i know i can sleep in the following day. if'n you're gonna see me out-n-about these days, it's either a saturday night or i'm on vacation(STARTING OCTOBER 7TH!!!).
did you see that the moon was out all DAY saturday?!?!! kinda weirded me out, like it was a sign or something, but i couldn't figure out if it was a good or bad sign.....
saturday night had a friggin TON of stuff going on in the city. i think there were like 5 art shows, 2 bands, and at least half a dozen parties going on(speaking of which; i was supposed to be up at a sweet-16 at the garden house; my bad. i didn't realize the times on this boat thing, and had thought i could do both.) i wound up on THE BOAT SHOW. we toured around the bay from 8-11 on a blue and gold ferry, with some interesting art, and at least one great band(explanatory notes to follow), and proceeds going to the victims of katrina(which i put in italics, cuz i don't know how much goes to those folks). i must say that if there was a night to tour the bay, it was definately this past saturday night.
nathalie(here again i capture the individual with the closed eyes; apparently i frighten people) had some great work in the show. being that the show was on a ferry, there were some issues with lighting. check how our ingenious friend trumped that challenge:

there was also this tree that had metal washers on wires hooked up to it. it had speakers imbedded in the papermache branches(at least i thi/unk it was made of paper mache), and you could control the sounds made from the washers hitting one another(captured by the wires) from a mixer inside the cabin. fun idea!!! interesting sounds... this also seems to be the only picture in which i captured damon, ariel, and rob. not to mention i spent an entire evening with clinton and rachel(scarfing rachel's popcorn and nachos, i might add) and somehow i NEVER GOT A PICT OF THEM?!?!?!
but i got a pict of all these people on the cruise?...the three hour cruise...
ok, i was distracted. distracted by what you ask? oh, you know, THE NIGHT SIGHTS OF THE BAY!
the bay bridge

this is my favorite shot that i took: the golden gate bridge(at least, i'm pretty sure it's the ggbridge) with the city in the background. stokedness. can't you possibly understand why in my vaped condition i would be so distracted by these sights?
OH YEAH! i DID say there were bands!
this is the only shot i got of the band, and i didnt' even take it(thanks clinton!). i wasn't feeling too well when i was inside, and where the bands were playing was in the bottom of the ship that was entirely inside. sheesh, even thinking about it right now while sitting at my very motionless desk is making me mildly nautious...anyway, i couldn't watch the bands, i had to stay outside where i felt really good with the cool night air on my face. also-also, for whatever reasons i only saw adam for about 2 minutes when i got there, and this is the only shot i got of lilah(accross the room with the fabulous fibre hat!). and i guess i did get another shot of nathalie....well, clinton got another shot of nathalie and lilah of the fabulous fibre hat.
and just when i was thinking, how lovely this all is, the fireworks started!!!! man-oh-man were they outta hand!!!! dude, they had everything BUT gandalf's dragon, knowwhattumsayin?!?!

word on the boat was that the fireworks were the result of a pyrotechninc convention being in the city. they seemed to go on forever, and they had some amazing configurations! i had to put away the camera and just watch, which is why i don't have a shot of the friggin CUBES!!!! there were fireworks that erupted into CUBES!!!! damn.
speaking of the boat....
ok, so, eventually it did get cold, and all the picts i took really demonstrated that i was having difficulty holding the camera still, the boat above being the least of'em
i kinda like how the second one looks like a buncha neon squirrels...LOL!

yeah I couldnt hang in the hull too long either without feeling a little woozy. I felt great outside with the fresh sea air. But since saturday I can't shake the swaying still on a boat feeling. I also didnt manage to get any photos of the people I was with, or the art! I liked all your photos! Im so glad you and Rachael came!
